There seem to have been more traffic to the #MasturbationMonday meme, this week it took me 2 nights to read all the entries, which put me behind with the equally important #WickedWednesday posts, but I have found plenty to recommend this week. It is also time to get nominating for Molly’s top 100 and on the 8th Kinkly' s blogger round up opens.
Please be sure to give credit to the blogs you regularly visit and whose content you enjoy - an important point to be making on Share our Shit Saturday!

This week my willing interviewee is Violet Fawkes, a goddess of a Dom who enjoys writing erotic fiction and poetry. Get yourself comfortable because Violet is ready to share ...
- What made you decide to write a sex blog?
I’ve always felt like I was a sensual and sexual person and it has been an adventure trying to understand how to best express that part of myself. I think I’m still discovering it, actually. I have always written and I feel like the written word is my most confident mode of communication so writing erotic fiction and real life accounts of sex and intimacy feels like a good way to think and work through kinks, interests, scars and fears.
- What’s behind the title of your blog or your blogging “name”?
I chose Violet Fawkes as my nom de plume because I liked the old fashioned sound of Violet, like an eccentric old aunt which a saucy past, also because of the idiom “shrinking violet” because I certainly have moments of shyness. Fawkes comes, of course, from Guy Fawkes, rebel and villain, two things I don’t mind being. It also sounds like “fox”, and the play on foxiness/sexiness was an irresistible bonus. You could say I gave it a lot of thought!
Love, Violet as the name of the blog is simply a nod to the sign off from an intimate letter. I want readers to feel like they have peeked into a private stash of love (and lust) letters. I also review toys which is quite a lot of fun and keeps things interesting!
- Describe your blog in a nutshell:
Love, Violet is heavy on the fictional erotica and has a lot of photos as well. I have a background in the arts so illustrating my writing and taking and editing photos doesn’t ever get old, I love doing it. I sometimes write real life accounts of things as fiction, blurring the lines a bit between the “real” me and Violet. Sometimes Violet feels like the truest part of myself: an artistic FemDom, dark, revealing and concealing herself, tempting and unafraid.
I also use Love, Violet as a space for body and beauty exploration. As a plus-sized woman I have a complicated history with my body that has informed my sexual expression. I aim to make Love, Violet a body, sex and kink positive place to question, celebrate and appreciate sex and bodies; to learn, dream and feel.
- How long have you been blogging on this theme?
Erotica in general: a few years. The FemDom content has definitely increased in the last year or so as I have developed that side of my sexuality.
- What is your favourite type of adult toy?
Dildos, hands down. I love the sculptural quality of phalluses and creative and well crafted dildos are a joy to own and use. I’m a big fan of Lust Arts and I have all of their dildos.
If you were sent to a desert island (with no power issues) name the 1 adult toy you’d take with you:
I know I just regaled dildos’ virtues, however, if I was stuck on an island and I had access to power, I’d take a long my trusty Hitachi.
- What’s your current sexuality? At what age did you realise this was the right ‘fit’ for you?
I have identified as straight and non-monogamous since I was 16 or so. I did my fair share of bisexual experimentation in my late teens and early twenties, but as lovely as others can be, it’s always cis dudes that rev my engine most. I’d like to say that philosophically I’m pansexual because I do believe that I could be capable of being attracted to the person vs their gender or orientation, but I’ve not experienced that yet. I’d like to think I am open minded enough that if a person came into my life who struck a chord and was not a straight male, I would pursue that desire, but until it happens, I won’t know for sure.
- What’s your preference - naked or “dressed up” for sex? If dressed up, how so?
Naked, always. I like skin on skin too much to be too fussed with dressing up. I enjoy lingerie and rocking the sexiness of plain panties and a t shirt, but I’d rather be naked and feel my lover against me than have even the prettiest costume between us.
- Is there a kink or fantasy you’re yearning to try?
I have a burgeoning interest in breath play and choking, something I have limited experience with but a lot of keen interest.
I’m also a bit of a rope fiend. Tying up pretty boys (men, not actual boys, gross) in rope is one of my most favorite activities. I’d like to ultimately learn rigging!
- Name the fictional being or species you’d most like to have an encounter with:
Hmmm, I’m not usually one for the fictional interspecies narratives, but I suppose I could imagine a certain thrill from some rough play and domination over a big, scary creature like a Minotaur. Hmmm … perhaps there’s a story there ….
- Anal sex - Meh or Yay?
Oh yes, please! Both giving and receiving.
- Sex needn’t always be serious - do you have a funny moment to share?
I don’t have a standout moment, but I do agree, it need not always be serious. If you can’t laugh or simply enjoy the moment without self deprecating or posturing, it’s unlikely to be great sex.
The best is when something goes a bit awry, like a position just isn’t working well, or a roleplay has escalated into the ridiculous and you can’t help but chuckle. Of course, bodily functions often lead to comic relief. There’s nothing like a mid-fuck fart to break the ice.
- Sexting - love it or hate it?
Love, love, love it especially when it’s done in a thoughtful way, recounting a real encounter or reminding the other person how hot they made you, or discussing the burning anticipation before you can do something to them or with them.
- Which mainstream film depicts your favourite erotic scene?
Oh this is an excellent and challenging question. Even though there’s no sex at all, the tension and eroticism in the shaving scene in Skyfall where MoneyPenny shaves Bond with the straight razor he offers her is so laden with exquisite lust that is so much hotter than any exhibition of intercourse. The dialogue is perfect and the slow, tentative interaction is both blistering hot and almost innocent.
- Do you watch porn?
Not really. I scroll through tumblr and catch sexy gifs and short, mostly amateur videos but I’m not an aficionado by any means.
- Nominate your favourite adult film:
I couldn’t name anything specific but I’m a fan of anything that’s rough and guy-on-guy. Don’t ask me why gay porn does it for me, but it’s the only genre that interests me. Occasionally pegging/FemDom porn will catch my eye.
- Before you go, please tell us 1 adult blog (aside from yours) which we must add to our reading list:
A Dissolute Life Means … by Hyacinth Jones is one of the first adult blogs I ever read and it had a huge impact on how I began to articulate my own sexuality and sexual experience. I love Hy’s sensitive, yet frank, style. I could go on and on but I’ll try not to embarrass myself by fangirling all over the place!
Thank you so much Violet for sharing your more ‘private’ side with me and my Dark Darlings!
