I loved the Enid Blyton books you refer to, and obviously has a rose tinted view of life at such a school.

I never went to my school reunion, as I knew I would have felt awkward and inferior as I was made to feel at school.Miss Scarlethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10973213593329478003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-108223192203553635.post-39174962366514251982018-02-21T14:12:56.308-08:002018-02-21T14:12:56.308-08:00People don't really EH, you're right, unle...People don't really EH, you're right, unless they make a real effort to learn and grow. I don't think I'd want them to read what I write now - the narrow minded ones would misconstrue it entirely. This was interesting to read, your take on going to a boarding school (of which I know little) and how it shaped you. I had the same reaction at a reunion, people don't change much.Elliott Henhttp://thelifeofelliottandallthatjizz.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-108223192203553635.post-50589973198759008302018-02-15T05:14:26.395-08:002018-02-15T05:14:26.395-08:00I did not go to boarding school but was desperate ...I did not go to boarding school but was desperate to get out of my home life so always wished we could have afforded boarding school for me. I built a wall around me for other reasons - experiences from childhood can have such strong influences on our behaviors as adults. I certainly recognise that, but feel its so important to put things behind us and take responsibility for doing the best we can, with the cards we are dealt in adulthood. It's...Love the insight and heart of this, Posy. It's interesting how the methods we used to "survive" in school when we were kids help shape the adults we become. I never went to boarding school so I can't relate to that experience specifically, but I grew up in a small, mostly white town in the Midwest of the US. Being a biracial kid (half white, half Asian) in that environment was challenging...fielding weird, sometimes negative, comments about my appearance made me self-conscious, as I stuck out like a sore thumb from the other kids. I find myself reverting back to the things I did as a kid when I get uncomfortable as an adult. A bit strange to say the least. I've grown more comfortable with myself as an adult. Your post was a good reminder that I should always strive to be happy with myself. So thanks :) Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14591787182477959991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-108223192203553635.post-51459469056577091682018-02-12T12:28:48.592-08:002018-02-12T12:28:48.592-08:00Beautifully written piece Posy. Some good times and some bad. Not being of an academic bent I did badly at school and there was no one to help. Some dreadful teachers. Apart from English I was useless. Good at running though and ran for the Licolnshire. cross country team. Try not to think about it too often. xxCousin Ponshttp://book1799.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
